Dude Had 'Tude

Oh boy, I got much attitude from JO this morning.  Not used to that.  Obviously some shit he needs to communicate about, but I don't know if he will.  It was bizarre.  In 26 years of friendship, I have never gotten that kind of passive aggression from him before.  When we used to be lovers - a long, loooong time ago, we would just let it out freely if one of us was pissed off at the other.  Our communication has always been our strong point.  In fact, there has been a lot of communication on my part lately - communication he asked for.  Then there is this, seemingly out-of-the-blue, but I could be missing out on something.  ...I think I know what it is, but I am not certain and I want to be.  I called him on his 'tude and asked him what that's all about.  He could answer me today or in April of next year.  He's like that.

Anyway, I got over 1300 words added this morning.  I wanted to write more but it was draining me.  I have enough in me though that wants to get on the page today, so this afternoon, I'll get the rest out before the kids get home.

My stepdad is visiting my Mom ... Stepdad #1.  I haven't seen him in 10 years, almost exactly.  My daughter was a year and a half.  My brother called from Vermont saying his Dad had a lot of shit he wanted to reconcile with my Mom and with me also.  He's been sick a lot, the last couple of years and he seems to be after making peace.  It's funny because it's my brother who was the one who couldn't deal with his Dad for the longest time, but over the past couple of years (since he's been a single Dad), he's been ironing out their relationship - which is a beautiful thing.  Mom's bringing him over today.  It'll be nice to see him.

Creepy

Oh man ... yesterday and today were creepy as hell.  Both yesterday and this morning, I was writing from the perspective of an antagonist in the story (two separate ones), and each of them was with yet another antagonist who creeped them out - and all of them are decidedly horrendous, so it is rather bizarre to be able to draw those kinds of characters from without of myself ... very bizarre indeed!  Creepy.

Good Morning of Work...

I started off slow this morning, procrastinating and fiddle-fucking around (beyond my regularly scheduled fiddlefuckn...), but I finally got it into gear and pressed through an area that had been bugging me.  I rewrote it and actually got in 2119 more words in under a couple of hours.  I think I'm going to attempt to double that today, but first I need a second cup of coffee!

It's snowing here.  I can look down the length of the house and see the huge pine tree in my backyard through the kitchen window.  It is especially pretty when it's boughs are snow laden, as they are.

OH YEAH !

Jen called last night - she's going to edit my books!  I was hoping like mad that she would.  I will be sending her the two children's tales this week, and next week I'll ship the first 6-7 chapters of my novel.  Her semester just started so she said her turn-around time might not be to swift as she'll have her students' work to attend to as well, but other than that she'd be happy to do this.  I am positively thrilled about it.  She asked if her hub ( a retired professor ) might read these works too.  What?  Was she kidding?  I admire their work so tremendously - I am twice as fortunate to be able to have both of their feedback and suggestions on clarity, etc.

This is my year.

I've accomplished a full mornings worth of work, now I can go back to fiddlefuckn around ... on neopets.

This blog was in need of a makeover.  I like this better.  Not too complicated ... hopeful in spite of the shadows.

I met a nice kid yesterday.  She is really very smart - wise actually.  More so than a lot of adults I know and she's only 14.  She neo-mailed me because she saw the blog I have here on xanga for one of my neopets.  We must have emailed each other for close to 3 hours!  I hooked her up with my kids, too.  That young lady is precisely the type of daughter-in-law material that I pray my son brings home someday.

I tried to call Daddy again last night, and Thomas today.  I am getting concerned because I haven't talked to Daddy since before Christmas.  Thomas simply hasn't set up his cell voicemail ... I can always catch him at work tomorrow, possibly even this afternoon if he set up an appointment.

I think that Jen may edit these manuscripts for me.  She is my number one choice to edit my books but school starts next week and it may be that she has enough of a workload from her students.  Well, she will probably do the two children's books but it might be that the novel is too much work until the summer.  Which would be okay too because I am certain that she would would recommend someone else to do it for me if it turns ou that she can't.  I am excited though because it will all happen this year.  It's right there.

I have to track my brother Thomas down though because I have to get him the information he needs to start the illustrations.  Nobody but him can illustrate my books.  Not because he is my brother, but because he is the best.  ...Well, and because he is my brother.

This morning, I have come up with another children's books theme idea.  It is capital!  The one I am working with already is enough to keep me (and any other children's author), going indefinitely, but this new one is tremendous fun and will be extremely popular with parents as well as children if I manage to pull it off right.  I have a lot of test subjects since I have a gazillion nieces and nephews now.  I'll be drafting the first of that concept this week coming.  I'll work on it in the afternoons after I complete me daily entry toward my novel.

My landlord must have told the idiots upstairs to stop blocking the driveway because they finally moved their truck up and out of the way.  Their obnoxiousness was seriously getting to me because they all know perfectly well that I am handicapped -I walk with a cane for crying out loud- and that I have to have access to the walkway.  It is essentially, but informally, the handicapped spot.  Not only do they know this, but they kept blocking it in such a way that I would have to load and unload in the street and walk up the driveway and then the stairs.  These are people who know that I am getting both of my knees completely replaced.  Assholes.  And they just moved here a few months ago!  Do I complain about all of the galloping noise their stupid dogs make over my head everyday when I am trying to write?  No.  Do I complain about the stupid fucks vacuuming the wood floor over our heads at 10 at night? No.  Do I complain about all of the unnecessary commotion that these people make over top of our heads day in and day out?  No.  Do they appreciate my consideration of their inconsiderate asses?  No.

But all is well that ends well, I suppose.

It felt like the new year started a few weeks ago.  It's been a good time.  I have learned to write at least four hours a day on two novels.  That's the discipline and focus I have been waiting for.  It has finally arrived.  Right now, I am reading a debut novel by an old friend.  It is inspiring but weird because - well, because a friend wrote it, yeah, but because his theme is soooo similar to mine.  His premise is a brother goes up to Vermont from NYC to find out who murdered his brother who lived there.  Mine is a sister who goes up to Vermont from NYC to find out who murdered her sister wholived there.  ...But that is where the similarities end.  Bizarre though, because I conceptualized my story about 5 years ago and I only picked up Ian's novel yesterday!

Ah well, we started life off in the same place around the same folks, so why shouldn't our novels start in the same fashion!
